Delicious buttery parmesan knots, with instructions to make the dough from scratch. Great as an appetizer for any party and event or with any meal. These are super easy to make and crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. You can knot with bacon too. It’s so good you should try this.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tsp dry active yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt or more
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 6 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 package thick-sliced bacon, optionalDSC_0329

Directions:

  1. Pour warm water in the bowl of a stand mixer with a hook. Add the sugar and swirl around to dissolve the sugar and cool the water a little bit.  Then sprinkle the yeast on top of the water the let it sit 8- 10 minutes. Once the yeast is foamy, add the egg, milk and salt. Start the stand mixer and slowly add in the flour. Once the flour starts to come together, add the butter and parmesan cheese. Knead for a few minutes until smooth and elastic. DSC_0325DSC_0340DSC_0349DSC_0351DSC_0356DSC_0360
  2.  Place dough in a large greased bowl. Cover with a cloth or use plastic wrapping and place in a warm place to rise until doubled in volume, about 1 hour and a half to 2 hours. DSC_0363
  3. Cut the dough into 24 even strips. Fold and tie into a loose knot and lay on the baking sheet. Repeat until you have used up all the dough, and your baking sheet is full of dough knots. Let the dough rest in a warm place for about 20 minutes.DSC_0370DSC_0366DSC_0394
  4. Preheat the oven to 400F. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the yeast rolls are golden brown. Serve with your food. DSC_0408DSC_0423
